Specialized Workshop for Enhancing the Competence of the National Assessor Team
On 24–25 September 2025, the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges (NCAMC), in collaboration with the College of Medicine, University of Nineveh, and under the supervision of the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Apparatus, organized a specialized workshop entitled “Enhancing the Competence of the National Assessor Team.” The workshop aimed to strengthen the skills of national assessors, train new members, and conduct a mock field visit and site visit report (SVR) writing exercise.
The two-day program included group-based activities, simulated accreditation exercises, and interactive sessions facilitated by senior NCAMC members. Participants were divided into nine groups, each focusing on a specific accreditation sub-area, guided by NCAMC facilitators. Day one featured field exercises within Nineveh College facilities, followed by the preparation of draft site visit reports and peer feedback sessions.
The second day began with a presentation by Dr. Hossam Majeed on Focus Group Discussion (FGD) techniques, followed by a mock FGD demonstration led by Dr. Firas Tarek and Prof. Nazar Haddad, highlighting effective communication and evidence collection methods during accreditation visits. Prof. Haddad also delivered an engaging talk on “The Role of Students in the Accreditation Process,” emphasizing student partnership in quality assurance.
The event concluded with the presentation of group reports covering all nine accreditation axes, followed by constructive feedback from facilitators. The workshop achieved its objectives in building assessor capacity, promoting consistency in evaluation practices, and fostering a shared understanding of NCAMC standards among assessors.
