Strategic Partnership for Accreditation: National Council and Medical Association Dialogue
As part of the strategic collaboration between the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges and the Iraqi Medical Association, and in alignment with the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) requirements for stakeholder engagement in accreditation processes, the Joint Committee convened its regular meeting on August 19, 2025, at the Association’s headquarters in Baghdad. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Jamal Al-Muhammadawi, First Deputy of the Iraqi Medical Association, and attended by members of the National Council alongside representatives from key health and academic institutions.
The participants discussed mechanisms and scientific standards essential for enhancing the quality of medical education in Iraq, reaffirming the pivotal role of the Association as a principal stakeholder in the national accreditation framework.
The meeting focused on two core themes:
Promoting a culture of accreditation and raising awareness among medical professionals within the Ministry of Health.
Ensuring that the outcomes of medical colleges align with internationally recognized standards.
This engagement marks a significant step toward institutional partnership, advancing the quality of medical education, and strengthening the regional and international standing of Iraqi medical colleges.
