On July 17, 2025, the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges (NCAMC) convened a focused meeting with the Dean Committee of Iraqi Medical Colleges to advance national dialogue on accreditation implementation. The discussion centered on two priority areas—supporting colleges during the post-accreditation phase and clarifying the process of eligibility for institutions preparing to enter the accreditation framework. The meeting served as a platform for collaborative input, where NCAMC leaders and medical deans exchanged practical solutions to promote consistency, transparency, and quality improvement across Iraq’s medical education landscape.

NCAMC formally announced that accredited colleges are required to submit a detailed progress report annually, covering improvement initiatives, evidence of standard compliance, educational outcomes, faculty development activities, and infrastructure updates. These reports must be submitted by the end of the institution’s accreditation anniversary month, with a 30-day allowance. In addition, the Council defined “Eligibility” as the confirmation that a college has the minimum systems and documentation to initiate accreditation. To meet this requirement, colleges must submit an eligibility report via the NCAMC portal—including details on governance, curriculum, faculty qualifications, and a preliminary self-assessment aligned with national standards. The session also welcomed suggestions from deans to streamline documentation, promote regional support workshops, and provide bilingual templates to assist newly established colleges, reinforcing NCAMC’s commitment to facilitating equitable and scalable accreditation readiness.
